Photographers

First one I don't actually like, but wanted to discuss.

Some of their photos are so heavily photoshoped that it makes it look, well, fake. I really don't like this, and would like to avoid it at all costs.

I like a lot of these, but I can't find pricing anywhere.

K: $4200 for 6 hours and includes other things (look under "investment"); I like them

Not terribly impressed, but some good shots.

K: don't like very much

I like these quite a bit more, it says she starts at $4000 for 7 hours.

K: not too impressed

Good shots, but don't really feel personal to me.

K: I actually really like these, but they're in Los Angeles

Here's more. I looked through all the S.C. ones, and was unimpressed. Here are a few Berkeley one's that I think are a bit better than the majority.

clearly has a certain style, certain shots are not really good though, so am rather ambivalent

Okay, I take it back. There aren't two good photographers in Berkeley, as far as I can tell. I just spent an hour looking at various sites for Santa Cruz and Berkeley. The majority of them look like photos I can take. The ones that don't are too heavily photoshoped.

Here's my thinking on it. As far as I can tell, Kelty's engagement photos are nearly unique in that I feel like they really give you a sense of who the people are and feel very personal. This to me is a really strong selling point. I'm not too sure about this, but I feel like the reason to be so careful in selecting a photographer for your engagement shoot is sorta to test them out for the wedding. I get that, I do. Since she's never done a wedding, I understand the retisince towards going forward with her. But to me, I feel like going with her for the engagement shoot will tell us as much as we could possibly know about her for the actual wedding photography, and if we don't enjoy the experience or have problems that sustain, we can find a new photographer. What do you think?
